Reading
Students have reading for 85 minutes each day with Mrs. Allen, Mrs. Brown, Mrs. St. Clair, or Miss Stetson. Within this hour and a half students work on phonics, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension skills.

Students will begin the year working on a Patricia Polacco unit. They will read many of her REALISTIC FICTION books and make connections. There are three types of connections: text-to-self, text-to-text, and text-to-world. Making connections help readers connect the book to their background knowledge.

Students are BUSY writing letter to the author Patricia Polacco. They are using a 4-square to organize their writing, and write a four paragraph letter.

Students are working on Mystery Reports. They are reading a mystery and taking notes. They need to bring their book, notes, and all other work to class on Thursday and Friday, October 23 and 24, 2014. We will be learning how to take our notes and write quality paragraphs. The remaining part of the project is to be completed at home. It is due October 30th and will be presented on the October 31st!!! Have fun with the project!
